Rutuma – Period & Ovulation Tracker ("Rutuma", "we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy and safeguarding your personal and health-related data.

This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our mobile application.

1. Data Storage — Local Only

All your personal and health data is stored exclusively on your device. Rutuma does not transmit, upload, or store your data on any external server or cloud service. We do not have access to your data at any time.

This includes:

Period dates and cycle length
Ovulation and fertility information
Symptoms and mood tracking
Medicine reminders and logs
Personal notes
App preferences and settings

We do not collect or store your email address, login credentials, or any personally identifiable account information on our servers.

2. Authentication

Rutuma supports optional sign-in via Apple or Google for convenience. Authentication is handled entirely by Apple and Google respectively. We do not receive, store, or have access to your passwords or account credentials. Authentication tokens are stored securely on your device using the iOS Keychain.

3. Analytics & Crash Reporting

To improve app stability and performance, Rutuma uses Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics (provided by Google). These services may collect:

Device model and operating system version
App version
Anonymous usage events (e.g., feature interactions, session duration)
Crash logs and diagnostic data

This data is anonymized and does not include your health data, personal identity, or any information you enter into the app.

We do not collect or track your IP address, geographic location, or any location-derived data.

We do not use this data for advertising purposes.

4. In-App Purchases

Rutuma offers optional premium features via subscription. All payments are processed exclusively through the Apple App Store. We do not collect, process, or store any payment or billing information.

5. Data Backup & Transfer

Rutuma provides a backup feature that allows you to export your data as an encrypted file. This file can be used to transfer your data to another device or safeguard it for future use.

The backup file is generated locally on your device.
You may save it to iCloud Drive, Google Drive, or any other location, or share it via AirDrop, the Files app, email, or other sharing options available on your device.
Rutuma does not upload, access, or retain any copy of your backup file. The choice of storage location and method is entirely yours.

Important: Since all data is stored locally, if you delete the app or lose your device without creating a backup, your data cannot be recovered. Team Rutuma has no ability to retrieve your data.

6. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

7. Your Rights & Control

Since all data resides on your device, you have full control:

View your data — All information is visible within the app.
Export your data — Use the built-in export feature (CSV, JSON, or PDF formats).
Delete your data — Delete the app to remove all data permanently, or use in-app settings to clear specific data.
Backup your data — Use the encrypted backup feature before deleting.

No request to Team Rutuma is needed to exercise these rights — you are in complete control.

8. Advertising & Tracking

Rutuma does not engage in cross-app tracking.

The app may display advertisements provided by third-party ad networks.
Advertisements are not based on your health data. Your health data is never shared with advertisers.
We use Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework. You will be asked for explicit permission before any cross-app tracking occurs.
You can manage tracking preferences in your device settings.

9. Children's Privacy

Rutuma is not intended for children under 13 years of age.

We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If we discover such data has been collected, we will take steps to delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.

Any changes will be reflected by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.

Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
